Tiros Libres: Summer Days Are Here Again

By: Christian | November 30th, 2007

River Plate's Radamel Falcao in last years Torneo de Verano.

The schedule for the 2008 Torneo de Verano has just been released. The annual summer tournament, played between the Apertura and Clausura seasons, is essentially a warm-up for the “big 5″ clubs, and gives fans the opportunity to see teams face off against their big time rivals during the summer. The superclásico against Boca will take place in the coastal resort town of Mar del Plata the 26th of January. No word yet on television listings.

River were the victors in last years edition, back in the days when there were high hopes for the league and the Copa Libertadores. Of course, we all know how that turned out. But a new year brings new hope, so perhaps this tournament could be a springboard into a winning 2008.
