Tiros Libres – La Pre-Previa
By: Christian | August 1st, 2007
The 2007 Apertura beings this Friday, and before the first ball has even been kicked, River Plate are already disappointing.
If you haven’t heard, the game away to Gimnasia de Jujuy has been postponed until the 26th, to give more time for River players to rest after their horrendous 33 hour trip to Korea for the Peace Cup. Daniel Passarella has whined for some time about the ridiculousness of such a tournament and long travel time, although last I checked, River didn’t seem to mind cashing that $500,000 check that they were guaranteed just for showing up. Hopefully, it wasn’t wasted on some fine Korean electronics.
I’m working on some posts regarding the upcoming football season, so check back soon. El futbol is almost here, so thankfully we can have something to read about, hopefully victories.
CORRECTION: The match against Gimnasia will be on the 23rd, as posted on River’s site. Thanks to Gonzalo for that one.

Oh, by the way, I prepared a Torneo Apertura Preview guide earlier on today. It is scheduled to be posted in a few days, since I barely made a post today (it wouldn’t be too smart to make two posts on the same day in a news-less time of the year). I hope to read yours soon.
