Tiros Libres: A Ganar Sà o Sà – Vélez
By: Christian | March 21st, 2008Looking forward to seeing this weekend’s must-win game against Vélez Sársfield, but don’t have DirecTV? Thankfully for you, Telemundo will be showing the game live at 1PM ET, which as far as I know, is available nationwide.
River, who sit 2nd in the table with 12 points, need desperately to come away with a victory if they are to remain in the title hunt. While a loss wouldn’t necessarily kill los millonarios title hopes, after two successive 0-0 draws in the league, River not only need to score, but must do something they have yet to do in the Clausura this season, which is to win away from home. Our nearest rivals in the table, Estudiantes and Boca, have considerably easier draws this weekend, facing Racing and Colón, respectively. Diego Simeone will not have his captain Ariel Ortega or Augusto Fernández available due to injury.
As for Vélez, they are coming off one of their worst weeks in recent history after the death of one of their fans, so look for them to make a statement in front of their home crowd at the Amalfitani. River’s defense will need to find a solution to contain Gustavo BalvorÃn, whose 4 goals on the season had pushed el fortÃn to the top of the Clausura.

Does anyone know if Telemundo will show some live games from the Argentine Clausura on a regular basis??

I’m not sure. Last year they showed the Tigre-River match, and I believe they showed a San Lorenzo game earlier this season. They tend to show a wide variety of leagues without any sort of consistency, from Dutch to Italian, and often on delay. Basically, I wouldn’t count on it, but I’ll report any matches they do.

I live in Los Angeles. I always try to catch the matches on Mitre. The internet is awesome. I also believe that Radio Rivadavia broadcasts some Argentine Primera matches as well as some National team stuff.

Maybe it’s different on the West Coast…sorry to hear you couldn’t watch it. But yeah, Radio Mitre is awesome, eevn if they do talk a million miles a minute.

The “second” match on Sunday is not carried by Fox Sports.
I listen to Radio Mitre too. It’s fantastic!!!
The fast and dramatic talking is a trade-mark for argies, like mate and tango.
The “relator” VÃctor Hugo Morales (born in Uruguay) is a total genius and a living legend.
But the fast talking was originally created back in the sixties by José MarÃa Muñoz and his partner Fioravanti.
Muñoz was the first one to do it but many say Morales is the very best.Posted from
