I live in Edmonton and am going on vacation this summer. My plane lands back home about an hour after kickoff. Fuck my fucking life.

Ouch. I’m sorry.
I’m trying everything in my power and wallet to get there. This is as close to River as I’ll get in sometime and I desperately want to go. Will keep everyone posted…

Does anyone know any more information about the Juve-River game?

The Everton players think that River are still a team that plays technical football to a high standard, this could be very bad for the image of our team in England should Everton crush us. The bad thing is, if they put out a semi decent team that is a distinct possibility. The last English team River played was a newly promoted Reading and that was a far from convincing performance. If I remember correctly, Gerlo was the only player to come out of that looking good.

And I’m not from God damn America, how do you change that thing?

I doubt that the English perception of us would be that affected should Everton defeat us. I think the English see River as one half of the River-Boca rivalry and as a factory for producing young talent, and not much beyond that.
Besides, this is a friendly and nothing else. Win, lose, or draw, I don’t think the result will tell us significantly much about either team.

I have been an Evertonian for 40 years and have watched out for the River Plate scores for over 30 years too. This is a dream tie as River Plate is one of the great names in world football. Apparently we have relatives who used to run a business on Rio de la Plata.
I will do everything possible to make the journey to Canada to watch this iconic game.
Better still if in the future River Plate make the Journey to England sometime.Posted from
