My Cup(s) Overfloweth

By: Christian | June 25th, 2007

Sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend, but I was fully occupied with the Gold Cup here in Chicago. (USA! USA! USA!) Of course Copa America begins tomorrow, with the U.S. and Argentina clashing on Thursday. I’ll have a more in depth preview on Wednesday. I’m still ecstatic from yesterday’s win, but with all due respect to the U.S., nothing’s changing my mind about el albiceleste going all the way.

Some quick River news:

Juan Pablo Carrizo: Real Zaragoza are prepared to offer $5 million dollars for the goalkeeper. Though Passarella has made it clear he wants to retain this year’s Superclasico hero, he may be running out of options, not to mention money. Ole is reporting that one possible scenario is to work out a deal whereby JP could remain with the club for another 6 months before completing the switch.

Oscar Ahumada: His transfer to Italian club Atalanta has died, with the Bergamo side unable to provide the adequate funds. An offer had been made and accepted for $2.5 million, but late Saturday night River announced that deal null and void. Ahumada’s agent is now accepting offers from other European clubs.

More transfer rumor/news here.
