Argentinos Juniors 4 - 1 River Plate
By: Christian | October 4th, 2007
Really, if you want a match report you can just read my post from our other 4-1 loss this season. In 90 minutes yesterday, River’s chances of winning the Apertura championship came to a swift and horrific end, as 4 goals from Argentinos Juniors left los millonarios at the wrong end of yet another humiliating defeat away from home. You can tell me all you want about how the math is still in our favor, how upcoming games against Boca and Independiente could put us right back in it, but from what I saw, River are a team that are done and dusted.
Yes, Passarella rested his starters for the upcoming Superclásico, and yes, La Paternal is always difficult, but there can be no excuse for the embarrassment known as the River Plate back line, which at this rate could be substituted by 4 tee ball stands and I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference. Put a blond wig on one of them and it might do a better job then Federico Lussenhoff at defending.
What else is there to say at this point? We’re still in La Copa, and the biggest game of the season will take place on Sunday, but regardless, this has been a shocking season for River.

How disappointing to be a River Plate fan lately… We could even play an amateur side and still lose if we didn’t play at home…
Who cares, anyway. In the last Superclásicos we came from a bad score in the previous match and still got a good one with Boca.Posted from
