There's no way Pablo Aimar is returning to Argentina now. Perhaps in a couple years.

Old star returning like Ortega or Crespo (may be) is a very promising news, but, frankly speaking, obviously they showed their best performances many years ago, could they return River to the top-position as it should be? it is doubtful, to my mind.
River is need in "fresh blood", do we have young stars? Players, who could become new "Crespo" or 'Ortega"?
I didn't remember nobody from River in Argentina national young team tournament in Canada. this is frightful. :(

but, of course, i hope that crisis will be overcome soon. River the best!! ))

Yeah, but players are always saying that they'll honor their contracts, but if Crespo isn't getting regular playing time, it may benefit him to move. If a deal does happen, I still it's more likely to be next summer, if at all.

Well Crespo himself said that he would love to return to River, but that now is not the right moment and that it would be a "utopia". He said he is expecting to conclude his contract (which lasts till 2009) with Inter.

Gregory Sica writing on Goal.com seems to think the deal is closer then we think, given Crespo's lack of playing time this season, and his friendship with Diego Simeone who is close to taking over of course at River.

Whoops! Missed that entry.

He's on loan to Inter, no? Meaning Chelsea have the final say on where he goes, I think. I guess we'll have to wait & see.

I mentioned it briefly in my post yesterday http://riverplate.theoffside.com/07-apertura/tiros-libres-al-fin.html.

It makes sense; Crespo is a River Plate hero and as his career in Europe winds down, a move back to Buenos Aires could give hima chance to go out on top with his old team. Just look at the success of Riquelme at Boca and Veron at Estudiantes and imagine Crespo doing the same for River.

That being said, he is under contract at Inter, who are currently one of the best teams in Europe and a strong candidate to win the Champions League, so a move in January may be premature.
