Millonarios Abroad: Saviola already signs with Madrid?

El Conejo to Madrid?

La Marca is reporting that Javier Saviola has already signed with Real Madrid. Since having joined Barcelona in 2001, El Conejo has struggled to become a permanent fixture with the Catalan giants, and his days there are reportedly numbered. He didn’t even make the bench this past weekend for the Espanyol clasico.

Until this becomes official, I imagine we’ll be hearing more rumors like this, but what do you think? Here’s hoping the Barca fans won’t throw any pigs heads at him.

I am so excited to see a River Plate blog. It’s my second favorite club (after Lyon, of course!). I get heart palpitations any time I see them play.

Anyway, I kind of feel bad for Saviola. He’s one of those players that just haven’t been able to make his mark in Europe. It’s not that he lacks quality but that he has yet to find a team that fits him well. And I don’t think Real Madrid is it either.

The last player to leave Barca for Madrid was Figo, hence the pigs head reference. Saviola could not hold a place in the Barca squad not because he fell out with Frank Rikard but because he’s a terrible player. He’s the Argentinean version of Michael Owen (what ever happened to him?)

He’s a terrible player, yet scored 7 goals in 4 games when Eto’o was injured? Saviola is simply surplus to requirements. As for the Owen reference, Saviola has not had any of the injury problems that Owen has had. Clubs across Europe are keen to sign El Conejo, who could possibly want to take on the risk of signing Owen?

Saviola is definitely leaving Barca and it’s for his own good as there just isn’t a future there for him. I don’t really get it at all, but that’s how it goes. His contract at Barca is huge and I doubt there are that many teams willing to pay that kind of money for someone who has on-again-off-again years.

Despite his obvious talents, he would never fit in at Madrid. He’s not the style or quality they’re looking for and the Bernabeu faithful would tear him apart the instant he did one of his disappearing acts during a game. He should play for a team like Sevilla again, where he was bordering on brilliant.
