Copa Libertadores: San Martín 2- 0 River Plate

This is going to be harder than we thought.
River stumbled badly in their debut in this years Copa Libertadores, losing 2-0 to San Martín in Lima.
A goal in the 14th minute put San Martín up 1-0 thanks to some sloppy defending from River. While la banda had chances to equalize over the course of the game, it clearly wasn’t going to happen yesterday afternoon, and a second goal in stoppage time just twisted the knife deeper.
Despite a new head coach and new reinforcements, it’s the same disappointing results in the Copa. River will need to put the defeat well behind them, as Newell’s awaits us this Sunday in the league. I haven’t seen yesterday’s game yet aside from highlights, but I will try to watch the debacle tonight. Unbelievable.
