The Superclasico Returns!

By: Christian | October 17th, 2008

The wait is almost over. The tickets have long sold out. The fans are preparing for the incredible display of drums, streamers, banners, flags, and songs that will greet the players as they come out of the tunnel. This Sunday, River Plate will host the Superclasico against Boca Juniors, one of, if not the biggest derbies in all football. For one day, the city of Buenos Aires will shut down for this storied matchup, a fixture that is world famous for it’s passion both in the stands and on the pitch.

For los millonarios, this Superclasico carries even more weight this season; with the title out of reach, River will feel even more pressure to grab a result against Boca. It is by no means a consolation prize, with River’s early demise this season still a stinging blow to me and many of the River faithful. But a win over our most despised rivals is like its own tournament, and should things go our way on Sunday, millions of gallinas around the world will celebrate

You can watch the match live on Fox Sports en Español live at 3PM ET/NOON PT.

VAMO’ RIVER, EL MAS GRANDE LEJOS!!
